Sentara Health System Contracts for MEDai's High Risk
Prediction and Provider Profiling Systems
Orlando, FL (April 26, 2000) – Andrew Larkowich, Chief Operating Officer of
MEDai, Inc., announced recently that Sentara Health System, located in
Virginia Beach, VA, has contracted to use the company's High Risk Prediction
(HRP) and Provider Profiling Systems (PPS). Sentara is the largest integrated
delivery network in the state of Virginia. This large health system will use
MEDai's HRP to perform high risk prediction analyses to identify the top 10
percent of Sentara's patient population who will have the highest medical
costs in the future. In addition, HRP will predict the actual costs for these
members for the upcoming year.
The Provider Profiling System will be used to perform analyses of provider
costs and utilization patterns compared to his or her peer group in the
network. MEDai will provide Sentara with reports that display outcomes,
resources and process indicators against a severity-adjusted comparative.
Randy Axelrod, M.D., Sentara's Medical Director, said, "These new systems
harness the latest artificial intelligence technology to help us better plan our
resource usage and to identify best practices in terms of both quality of care
and cost."
"Sentara has been a MEDai client for some time, and we are pleased they
have chosen these additional systems to help them elevate an already
extremely high level of patient care," Mr. Larkowich said.
MEDai is a computer information services, software developer and tools
provider company that uses artificial intelligence to assist healthcare
providers and payors in the measurement of quality, efficiency, disease
severity, and outcomes with superior accuracy and predictability.
