Johns Hopkins Healthcare Selects MEDai’s
High Risk Prediction
System
Baltimore, MD (May 19, 2000) – Johns Hopkins Healthcare, an HMO affiliated
with Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, announced recently they have
signed a multi-year agreement to implement the High Risk Prediction System
(HRP) developed by MEDai, Inc. located in Orlando, FL. The HRP system will
be implemented through a joint relationship with Discover Health also located
in Baltimore.
Johns Hopkins Healthcare covers approximately 150,000 lives and will use
the HRP system’s artificial intelligence technology to help improve the care
management of its members. The HRP system uses MEDai’s Multiple
Intelligent Computer Heuristics (MITCH) to examine an individual’s
healthcare data to predict if they are likely to develop severe medical
problems over a specific period of time. Individuals who find they are at high
risk can proactively seek advanced care management to arrest the disease
progression and possibly even eliminate it in some cases, resulting in
improved treatment and quality of life
Andrew Larkowich, Chief Operating Officer of MEDai, said, “We are very
pleased to have our HRP product serve such a prestigious healthcare
organization as John Hopkins. Their use of our HRP system is a perfect
example of how artificial intelligence technology can be employed to improve
the treatment management of patients. When individuals can ascertain that
they are likely to develop chronic illnesses, interventions can be made to
lessen the severity or prevent its development altogether.”
MEDai is a computer information services company, software developer, and
tools provider that uses artificial intelligence to assist healthcare providers
and payors in the measurement of quality, efficiency, disease severity, and
outcomes with superior accuracy and predictability.
