Henry Ford Health System
Selects MEDai’s Clinical Decision Support System
Orlando, FL (June 2002) – MEDai, Inc. has announced that Henry Ford Health System (HFHS), headquartered in Detroit, MI, has contracted with MEDai to implement MEDai’s Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS). CDSS enables users to easily identify specific steps to monitor and improve clinical outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. CDSS captures the severityspecific determination of appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness of treatment.
HFHS was founded in 1915 by auto Pioneer Henry Ford. The not-for-profit organization, recognized as one of the nation’s leading health care providers, offers a seamless array of acute primary, tertiary, quaternary and preventive care. The organization’s mission is to improve human life through excellence in the science and art of health care and healing. Henry Ford selected MEDai’s Clinical Decision Support System after careful evaluation. “We are placing the pursuit of perfection at the center of our strategy and our daily work,” according to Mark Kelley, M.D., HFHS’s Chief Medical Officer. “Our ultimate goal is to create an environment that provides safe, effective, efficient, timely, patient-centered and equitable care; to each patient, every time” he said. He continued, “We believe CDSS will be an excellent tool that allows us to identify critical areas where we need to improve as well as those best demonstrated practices that we need to emulate.” MEDai’s Clinical Decision Support System will be installed in four of the health systems hospitals including: Henry Ford Hospital and Wyandotte Hospital, serving the Wayne and Downriver communities in Michigan; Riverside Hospital located in Trenton, MI; and Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren, MI.
“We applauded Henry Ford Health System’s decision to invest in our clinical outcomes analysis tool to improve their quality of care and to eliminate unnecessary costs,” said Steve Epstein, President and CEO of MEDai, Inc. We are honored to work with such a prestigious organization. This partnership blends their commitment to providing effective and efficient patient care with our advanced technology and proven process methodology, he added. The system is planned to be operational in the third quarter of 2002.
