Geisinger Health Plan Selects MEDai’s Predictive Modeling
Solution to Enhance Existing Disease Management Programs
August 02, 2005 – (Orlando, FL) - MEDai, Inc., headquartered in Orlando, FL, a leading provider of innovative health care solutions, announced earlier this week that Geisinger Health Plan, headquartered in Danville, Pa, has signed a multi-year contract to utilize MEDai’s Risk Navigator Clinical™ (RNC) predictive modeling solution. Risk Navigator’s physician engagement interface and Guideline Gap Analysis reports will allow the Health Plan’s disease management nurses and network providers to better coordinate health care services that are available to their members.
Risk Navigator Clinical™ accurately forecasts prospective high-risk patients to improve patients’ health and quality of care while controlling cost. The advantage of MEDai’s prediction engine is its use of the right combination of linear and non-linear models to correctly “fit” the characteristics of the client’s population. MEDai’s physician engagement interface allows the end-user, which can include physicians and disease management nurses, to view information from the provider paradigm. RNC allows drill-down to the patient level from this module. Disease management nurses have access to Guideline Gap Analysis reports which identify opportunities to improve care and avoid future risk by providing the right services to patients with chronic illnesses. Treatment guidelines using evidence-based medicine make identifying opportunities as simple as a few mouse clicks.
“Geisinger Health Plan offers programs that provide members with specialized instruction on how to deal with specific disorders, better manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life,” said Lila Sobel, Vice President of Medical Operations for Geisinger Health Plan. “Risk Navigator’s ability to accurately identify patients who are likely to be missed by traditional care management triggers and are not compliant with treatment guidelines improves the workflow of our disease management nurses,” she added.
“MEDai’s solution provides specific recommendations for disease management nurses based upon evidence-based guidelines,” said Steve Epstein, CEO and President of MEDai, Inc. “In addition, physicians have access to compliance rates and individual patient compliance for conditions including diabetes, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, asthma and several more,” he added.
