Clinical Pathway Care Improves Outcomes among Patients Hospitalized for Community-acquired Pneumonia
- This article, published in the October 2004 issues of Annals of Epidemiology, examines the impact of a unique evidence-based clinical pathway on six outcomes of care in patients hospitalized for community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Specifically, the article discusses the outcomes for CAP at Adventist Health System hospitals for the three years 1999 - 2001 using their evidence-based clinical pathways and order sets. It compares outcomes for patients on pathways vs. those not on pathways and shows that how their initiative improves quality and cost effectiveness. Written by: Loran D. Hauck MD, Lee M.
